Who The Forum Is Looking For
The Climate Adaptation Forum is seeking enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated professionals willing to volunteer time and expertise to advance thought leadership in climate adaptation and resilience. The Organizers are committed to a Steering Committee that reflects diverse perspectives across the full range of stakeholders and disciplines, including nonprofit organizations, municipal, state, and federal agencies, academia, and private industry.
The Forum’s work increasingly intersects with equity and justice, including the relationship between climate resilience, race, and equity, topics that are now essential and permanent across many adaptation decisions and projects. The Steering Committee helps ensure that these issues are addressed in ways that support real-world outcomes.
What Steering Committee Members Do
Steering Committee members help organize and deliver the quarterly Climate Adaptation Forums and strengthen the network of practitioners working on adaptation. Responsibilities typically include identifying and prioritizing emerging issues, informing themes and agendas with the Forum Organizers, and providing operational feedback on how events can best support practitioners.
Steering Committee members meet at least twice per year with the Forum Organizers and may also contribute between meetings by promoting events, occasionally co-chairing or moderating sessions, supporting breakout discussions, and responding to surveys or requests for input. The goal is to keep programming timely, practical, and relevant to stakeholders who are implementing resilience strategies on the ground.

Adaptation is increasingly embedded in everyday decisions across engineering, planning, risk management, public health, insurance, infrastructure, and public policy. The challenge is not only technical expertise, but translation: converting climate and resilience knowledge into repeatable operating approaches that work across organizations and disciplines.
Many sectors are working on similar adaptation challenges simultaneously—heat risk and indoor air quality, flood risk and stormwater capacity, wildfire smoke and public health, infrastructure reliability, and the evolving expectations of regulators and communities. However, knowledge of adaptation is not always disseminated across professional silos. The Climate Adaptation Forum creates a consistent place to meet, cross-pollinate ideas, compare methods, and share solutions that can be replicated.
How To Submit A Nomination
Nominations for the Climate Adaptation Forum Steering Committee must be submitted by Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Nominations are submitted through the Steering Committee Nomination Form available on the Climate Adaptation Forum website. Nominations are reviewed by the Forum Organizers and current Steering Committee members.
