ClimaTwin at the National Academies Climate Crossroads Summit

NASEM summit on equitable pathways to meet the climate crisis

ClimaTwin®, Climate Risk Intelligence for Infrastructure Digital Twins™, is proud to participate in the National Academies (NASEM) Climate Crossroads Summit on July 11th and 12th, 2023. The summit features “engaging experts, community stakeholders, and decision-makers on equitable pathways to meet the climate crisis.” Further, the National Academies highlight how our global community is currently at a critical crossroads to address the broad spectrum of threats to our systems, services, and societies, posed by the climate crisis now and in the future. As an immediate call to action, the National Academies assert that we must harness the full complement of knowledge and skills across various professional disciplines, including climate science and engineering of infrastructure assets and the built environment.

About Climate Crossroads

Building on more than 40 years of foundational work on climate change, the National Academies are stepping up efforts to meet the most urgent issue of our time. This year, the National Academies launched Climate Crossroads, a new initiative that leverages our disciplinary breadth and capacity for collaboration.

Climate Crossroads provides space to respond to new challenges as they arise, expands the Academies’ work to a more diverse range of stakeholders and decision-makers, and is developing new ways to work with underrepresented communities on climate.

Climate Conversations on Nature-Based Solutions to Bolster Community Resiliency

Climate Conversations on Nature-Based Solutions to Bolster Community Resiliency

As a part of a monthly webinar series hosted by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, the webinar Climate Conversations: Nature-Based Solutions focuses on “…how to better work with nature to build climate resilience and support human well-being and ecosystems.” Some of the many nature-based solutions include restoring wetlands, planting trees in cities, and using cover crops. Further, nature-based solutions present cost-effective strategies to bolster community resiliency and achieve Paris Agreement targets by 2030. The webinar highlights how conservation groups; federal, state, and local agencies; international organizations; and private enterprises are beginning to integrate nature-based solutions to address our climate crisis.

About Climate Conversations: Pathways to Action

Climate Conversations: Pathways to Action is a monthly webinar series from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine that aims to convene high-level, cross-cutting, nonpartisan conversations about issues relevant to policy action on climate change.

National Academies on Macroeconomics and Climate Risks and Opportunities

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, Roundtable on Macroeconomics and Climate-related Risks and Opportunities aim to improve our understanding of how climate change’s physical and transition effects relate to and affect macroeconomic performance.

Further, the roundtable focuses first on translating potential risks associated with climate change, and second, on transitioning toward a carbon-neutral economy via macroeconomic modeling. Challenges include harmonizing data collection and adjusting analytical approaches in macroeconomic models to accommodate climate risks and opportunities.

Sponsors of the Roundtable on Macroeconomics and Climate-related Risks and Opportunities include the National Science Foundation, the Wallace Global Fund, and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. For more information about the roundtable, please visit the National Academies website.
