SASB Standards assist organizations in making industry-specific disclosures on sustainability-related risks and opportunities that impact cash flow, financing access, or capital costs in the short, medium, or long-term. The standards focus on sustainability issues most relevant to investor decision-making across 77 industries.

This process involved evidence-based research, broad participation from businesses, investors, and experts, and the independent oversight and approval of the SASB Standards Board. Global investors view SASB Standards as crucial for companies with consistent and comparable sustainability disclosures.

As of August 2022, the responsibility for SASB Standards shifted to the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) under the IFRS Foundation. The ISSB is dedicated to maintaining, enhancing, and evolving these standards, encouraging preparers and investors to continue utilization.

The SASB Standards are integral to the first two IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards: IFRS S1 General Requirements for Sustainability-related Disclosures and IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures.
