The authoritative annual summary of the global climate

The American Meteorological Society (AMS) releases the State of the Climate in 2021 report. “An international, peer-reviewed publication released each summer, the (report) is the authoritative annual summary of the global climate published as a supplement to the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.”

Compiled by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) with contributions from scientists worldwide, State of the Climate in 2021 provides an update on global climate indicators, notable weather events, and other data collections.

State of the Climate in 2021 is the 32nd issuance of the annual assessment, published in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society since 1996. “As a supplement to the Bulletin, its foremost function is to document the status and trajectory of many components of the climate system.” Key chapters in the report include:

  • Global Climate
  • Global Oceans
  • The Tropics
  • The Arctic
  • Antarctica and the Southern Ocean
  • Regional Climates
  • Relevant Datasets and Sources
