Hazard Mitigation and Resilience Research on Extreme Events

Multi-dimensional aspects of compounding and cascading extreme events

Hosted by The National Academy of Sciences (a nonprofit, non-governmental organization), the virtual workshop “Compounding and Cascading Events” explores the multi-dimensional aspects of compounding and cascading extreme events. Further, the online event is for “…the Committee on Hazard Mitigation and Resilience Applied Research Topics to gather critical data for the second consensus report on the theme “Compounding and Cascading Events.”

Featuring four panels of top academics, community leaders, and industry experts, the virtual workshop identifies additional research needed in the fields of hazard mitigation, adaptation, and resilience. Leading panelists address numerous topics such as strategies and investments to improve services and functions, including access and equity, to achieve resilient infrastructure for compounding and cascading extreme events.
